SOFI TUKKER kicks off a bold new chapter with “Bread (butter version),” a reimagined take on their 2024 track “Bread” that swaps EDM for bossa and jazz. Featuring Seu Jorge, the new single is the first taste of their upcoming album butter, arriving May 16.
The collaboration marks a dream pairing. “The night we recorded with Seu Jorge will be especially ingrained in my memory forever,” says Sophie Hawley-Weld. “He looked at me with such sincerity and thanked me… I was blown away.”
“Bread (butter version)” flips expectations, with Sophie singing in Portuguese and Seu Jorge in English. The result is a textured, globally resonant duet that reflects SOFI TUKKER’s evolving sound.
butter is an acoustic, Brazil-rooted sibling to BREAD. Featuring genres like MPB, samba, and bolero, it was recorded in Brazil with top local musicians and the duo’s signature global perspective.
Following recent sets at Stagecoach’s Diplo’s Honky Tonk, SOFI TUKKER’s 2025 includes appearances at BottleRock, World Pride DC, and Newport Jazz Festival. Their continued work with environmental causes, mental health awareness, and LGBTQ+ advocacy remains integral to their platform.
