FINNEAS Teams with Kate Hudson & Claudia Sulewski for “2001” Music Video
FINNEAS releases the video for “2001,” starring Kate Hudson and directed by Claudia Sulewski. A nod to classic cinema.
Artist, producer, and composer FINNEAS continues to expand his creative reach with the release of the official music video for “2001”, a standout track from For Cryin’ Out Loud! (Interscope Records). Directed by longtime collaborator Claudia Sulewski, the video stars Kate Hudson in a playful, narrative-driven homage to Kubrick’s legendary 2001: A Space Odyssey.
In the storyline, FINNEAS plays a lovestruck actor captivated by Hudson’s dispassionate director. The visuals borrow from the cinematic grammar of sci-fi classics, featuring fisheye shots and upside-down frames.
“When I first started conceptualizing this music video, I knew I wanted to pay homage to 2001: A Space Odyssey, with nods to some of the film’s most iconic set ups like the fisheye lens and the upside-down sequence… To play off Finneas’s lyrics, I wanted to mix in some light, cheeky moments between Finneas and Kate,” said Sulewski.
The video arrives on the heels of a SOLD-OUT international tour across North America, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, and the U.K., as well as FINNEAS’ recent entry into television scoring with Alfonso Cuarón’s acclaimed Apple TV+ series Disclaimer.
As summer unfolds, FINNEAS and his band will hit major festivals across Europe—including stops in London, Italy, Austria, Belgium, Germany, and Spain—before returning to headline Osheaga, Outside Lands, and Lollapalooza.
