Healy Drops Soul-Searching New Single “RUNNING LAPS”

Indie artist Healy returns with “RUNNING LAPS,” a deep reflection on growth, struggle, and cycles of change.
After more than two years away from new releases, Healy is back with “RUNNING LAPS,” a sonically rich and lyrically vulnerable new single that marks a natural evolution for the Memphis-based artist.
Best known for his genre-defying catalog and 200M+ streams, Healy continues to craft music that hits close to the emotional bone.
“Am I departing from my old self and habits, or have I been just self-sabotaging and giving up when the going gets tough?” Healy reflects. “The imagery that came to mind was that iconic photo of Muhammad Ali looking over Sonny Liston — my higher self being down on the ground.”
“RUNNING LAPS” blends introspective storytelling with indie-pop tones, adding to a body of work praised by SZA and shaped through collaborations with artists like Cautious Clay. It’s his first release since his 2023 EP Look at God.
Raised in Memphis, Healy absorbed everything from church hymns to soul and Southern rap. A trained physical therapist, he eventually transitioned to music full-time, releasing Subluxe in 2017 and Tungsten via RCA in 2021.
Now, with “RUNNING LAPS,” Healy picks up where he left off—proving that sometimes moving in circles is part of the journey forward.
