Nell Mescal Drops “Carried Away,” Her First Release with Atlantic Records

 Emerging singer-songwriter Nell Mescal is back with “Carried Away,” her first new track since signing with Atlantic Records. The single, produced by Philip Weinrobe, blends acoustic intimacy with lush production and introspective storytelling.

“This song is about asking for reassurance from someone you’re in a tumultuous relationship with and being disappointed by their answer,” says Nell. “Instead of saying they love you back, they say they just got carried away.”

“Carried Away” marks the beginning of a new project for Nell. Recorded in Brooklyn, the song reveals the dynamic process behind its creation. “The demo of this vs the finished product is so different and it was so exciting to create in the studio,” she shared. “Philip had some amazing ideas. We thought about doing a lyric change in the second pre chorus and he had the entire band play the same section over and over again while I wrote as quickly as possible…and it really elevated the song.”

The track’s official video, now streaming on YouTube, further elevates the narrative. Nell continues to build momentum after recent appearances at Somerset House and TRNSMT Festival, with major events like Reading & Leeds on the way and a headline UK tour planned for late 2025.
