Anna Smerdova’s ‘Lugano’ Stage Moment Signals a Powerful Future in Classical Music

On September 25, 2025, young Czech pianist Anna Smerdova stepped into the spotlight at the Lugano Music Festival and delivered a performance that captivated the audience and echoed with promise. With achievements spanning over 25 international competitions in 13 countries, Anna is no stranger to acclaim. Earlier in 2025, she won the Grand Prize at the Concert Artists International Competition and performed at the esteemed Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, further establishing her presence on the international stage.

Her passion for music is deeply rooted in her family history. As the great-great-granddaughter of Josef Bartoš, the celebrated Czech composer, Anna carries forward a musical legacy that enriches her artistry and adds depth to every performance.
