Grace VanderWaal releases ‘Babydoll’ featuring Aliyah’s Interlude with official music video

Grace VanderWaal shares ‘Babydoll,’ a high-energy anthem featuring Aliyah’s Interlude, marking a bold new creative phase.
Grace VanderWaal is stepping into a bold new era with “Babydoll”, her latest single featuring Aliyah’s Interlude. A stark contrast to the reflective “What’s Left of Me”, this playful, attitude-filled track comes with an official music video, directed by Sophie Hur.
On the inspiration behind the song, VanderWaal shares:
“In the studio, we were talking about acting bratty, going out, wanting everything, and being a diva. Tiffany Stringer and I had the idea to write a song from our alter ego’s perspective. We named mine Baby Doll: who doesn’t like to be told no. I had an amazing time writing and creating it.”
2024 was a landmark year for VanderWaal. She delivered an unforgettable performance at the Kennedy Center Honors and starred alongside Adam Driver and Laurence Fishburne in Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis, which premiered at Cannes to a standing ovation.
Her 2016 debut EP Imperfectly Perfect was the year’s best-selling EP, followed by her critically acclaimed album Just The Beginning. Over the years, she has toured with Florence + the Machine and Imagine Dragons while receiving accolades such as the Teen Choice Award and Billboard’s Rising Star Award.
Now fully independent, VanderWaal is crafting her own path, shaping her next chapter with artistic freedom.
