Lord Huron and Kristen Stewart release “Who Laughs Last?” blending spoken word, haunting melodies, and noir visuals.

Los Angeles-based band Lord Huron has unveiled their first original song in two years, “Who Laughs Last?” Featuring Kristen Stewart in her recording debut, the track showcases the band’s innovative storytelling and cinematic sound. Released via Mercury Records, the single captures an eerie, film-noir vibe that pushes Lord Huron’s sonic boundaries.

The song begins with a low, rumbling guitar riff layered over a driving beat. Kristen Stewart delivers chilling spoken word reflections, including the haunting line: “It made me feel something I never felt before…something between awestruck and horrified.” The track builds to a climax as Ben Schneider’s vocals take over, underscored by the refrain: “You don’t remember what I said, but you’ll remember what I did.”

The accompanying video, directed with a Lynchian noir aesthetic, stars Stewart and brings the song’s mysterious atmosphere to life.

Schneider shared his admiration for Stewart’s involvement: “I’d been a fan of Kristen since seeing her work with Olivier Assayas. Her voice felt like the perfect fit for this song. I thought it was a long shot to ask, but she was interested, and the collaboration turned into something incredible. She added so much to the music and the video—it was a dream project.”

As the band embarks on a new creative journey, “Who Laughs Last?” offers an exciting glimpse of what’s to come from Lord Huron in this next chapter.
