Kassidy Releases “Useless,” a Raw Pop-Soul Single About Unreciprocated Energy

Pop-soul newcomer Kassidy taps into emotional honesty with his new single “Useless,” out now via Universal Music Canada. Written during a period of personal reflection, the song unpacks the frustration of being the only one showing up—whether in friendship or romance.

“‘Useless’ was inspired by friends who don’t reach out anymore or won’t make the time or effort the way they used to,” says Kassidy. “It’s about that feeling of always being the one to reach out.”

As the song developed, Kassidy realized the theme applied to romantic relationships as well.

“Somewhere along the way in the writing process, I realized that this concept could also be fitting for a romantic relationship where one of the partners is feeling let down or used.”

The music video, which captures Kassidy on one side of an emotionally distant relationship, will premiere May 30. A special live performance video will also be released on Kassidy’s socials, featuring JaRon Marshall of the Black Pumas. Stripped down and emotionally focused, it showcases the strength of Kassidy’s vocal delivery.

With a fast-growing fanbase and more material on the way, 2025 is poised to be a breakout year for Kassidy. His blend of modern pop and classic soul sensibilities continues to strike a chord with fans looking for authenticity and heart.
