Ally Evenson Drops “The Line” — An Unfiltered Journey Through Sound and Story

With “The Line,” Ally Evenson blends genre experimentation with a visually gripping body horror video.
Ally Evenson is redefining what a boundary-pushing indie artist looks and sounds like. Her new single “The Line,” out now via Assemble Sound/Atlantic Records, is equal parts experimental and expressive. With its country-infused drum & bass soundscape, the track is an unexpected left turn. Yet it fits perfectly into Evenson’s catalog of emotionally resonant, genre-fluid songs. Co-produced with nydge, the track was born from playful beginnings. “‘The Line’ is a song originally made as a joke…” she confesses.
What takes “The Line” to a new level is its accompanying visual—a surreal, body horror-inspired piece. “The video, however, is almost a prequel to my debut album, BLUE SUPER LOVE,” says Evenson. “I love body horror… what a way to switch eras. By vomiting up the hat…”
Originally from Port Huron, Michigan, Evenson has earned a reputation for raw vulnerability, as seen in her previous EPs. Now, with “The Line,” she brings a new chapter into view—one where her storytelling is both cinematic and unsettling, playful and profound.
