UK drummer Garry ‘Magpie’ Bowler returns with ‘The In Crowd’, a revitalized version of the Billy Page classic, now transformed into a call to action in support of original musicians and the enduring impact of Lemmy Kilmister.

Initially conceived as a lyrical thank-you to creators and supporters of original work, the project evolved into a more personal journey. With 2025 marking a decade since the passing of Motörhead’s Lemmy, Bowler saw an opportunity to shape the track as a lasting tribute to a musician who helped inspire generations to stay true to their voice.

Bowler assembled a powerful group of collaborators with direct ties to Lemmy’s musical lineage. On bass, Alan Davey, formerly of Hawkwind, brings rhythmic depth. Guitarist Wayne Kramer of MC5 — a band Lemmy revered — contributed shortly before his passing, leaving one of his final studio performances. Vocal duties are handled by Enid Williams, a founding member of Girlschool, a band long associated with Motörhead.

With a rare approach, the song was crafted from Bowler’s initial drum recordings, allowing each musician to layer their parts independently and with full creative freedom. The result is a track that’s both collaborative and intimate.

Bowler, who previously recorded demos with Motörhead members during March Or Die sessions, injects his history and passion into every beat. Kramer, after hearing his contribution, shared his excitement: “The track ROCKS!”

Through updated lyrics and meaningful performances, ‘The In Crowd’ emerges as both a salute to Lemmy’s legacy and a reminder of the vital role original music plays in shaping the sound of tomorrow.
