Kalsey Kulyk Releases “Western Wind” and Revisits The Judds’ Legacy with “Grandpa”

Kalsey Kulyk blends modern storytelling and country tradition in new dual release out now.
Country music continues to evolve, and Kalsey Kulyk is shaping that evolution with the release of “Western Wind” and a tribute cover of The Judds’ “Grandpa (Tell Me ‘Bout The Good Old Days),” out now via Universal Music Canada. Both tracks spotlight Kulyk’s distinctive voice and emotional clarity.
Written with Patricia Conroy and Dave Thomson, “Western Wind” reflects Kulyk’s thoughtful approach to songwriting. “Western Wind was a song that I started myself and had to walk away from because I wanted to give it my all,” she shares. “So a month later I was in Nashville in the writers room… and they loved it.”
Balancing the original release is Kulyk’s take on “Grandpa,” a classic country ballad filled with sentiment and personal history. “Grandpa was a song I used to sing all the time as a little girl,” she says. “Every time I hear this song or it pops in my head it feels like a warm blanket reminding me of my childhood.”
This isn’t the first time Kulyk has paid homage to her roots. Prior covers of “Cowboy Take Me Away” and “I May Hate Myself In The Morning” also offered intimate glimpses into her musical influences.
Set to support Wynonna Judd at the Energetic County Fair, Kulyk is a rising name in country circles. Hailing from Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan, she blends classic vocals with modern vulnerability, steadily connecting with a growing fanbase.
