Olly Alexander ushers in 2025 with the release of his fourth single from the upcoming album Polari, titled “When We Kiss.” This latest offering is a heartfelt exploration of the tension and ecstasy found in love’s most difficult moments. Accompanied by a visually stunning music video directed by Colin Solal Cardo, the track captures the emotional complexity of relationships through lush synths and evocative lyrics.

On the inspiration behind the song, Olly explains, “‘When We Kiss’ is an epic love song about a difficult moment in a relationship, when you don’t know whether you should break up or if you should stay together forever. I wanted this song to reflect those conflicted feelings, all the pain and ecstasy of loving someone. I believe heartbreak and synthesizers are made for each other, and I had the best time making this with my Polari partner Danny L Harle. Our aim was to take the listener on a rapturous journey of heartfelt emotion, from anguish to euphoria and back again.”

The single builds on the momentum of Polari’s earlier releases. “Cupid’s Bow” set the tone for the album’s deeply emotional themes, while the title track, “Polari,” was celebrated by Queerty for its nostalgic energy.
