Robin Cisek Takes Control in Striking “Rumor” Video

Alt-pop artist Robin Cisek directs her own “Rumor” music video, tackling online rumors and resilience.
Alt-pop singer-songwriter Robin Cisek has released a self-directed video for “Rumor,” her latest single from the independently released album Tempered. The video leans into visual symbolism to examine the emotional toll of digital slander — and the strength it takes to push back.
Cisek was inspired to create the video after facing anonymous hate online, a theme that fuels both the song and its visuals. With a minimal yet impactful approach, she communicates the weight of rumors and how technology can be used to twist someone’s image.
“This video is my way of taking back control and reclaiming my identity,” says Cisek. “So many people hide behind their devices, spreading rumours and tearing people down without any accountability. I wanted to turn that painful experience into something that feels empowering — something that reminds others that they’re not alone.”
A standout visual features Cisek holding a phone across her face, with lips on the screen mimicking her lyrics. The image speaks volumes — revealing how digital chatter can override one’s voice in today’s social environment.
“Rumor” is a key track on Tempered, released May 30, which was written entirely by Cisek and largely produced at her home studio. The album stands as a reflection of her creative independence, both sonically and thematically.
With the “Rumor” video, Cisek offers more than just commentary — she delivers a bold artistic statement that connects with anyone who has been silenced or misrepresented online.
