In a cultural moment that often feels uncertain, Sam Garrett returns with One Family, a full-length album that reawakens the soulful legacy of protest and peace music. Due out this summer, the project blends folk, reggae, and spiritual influence into an expansive message about freedom and connection.

“This album is my ode to the freedom movements of the 60s and the music expressed by the youth of that time,” says Garrett.

Garrett draws directly from the lineage of artists like Neil Young and Joni Mitchell, building on that foundation with lyrics that speak to both personal and collective healing. One Family explores the complex dance between joy and truth, love and accountability. In “Hey Amma” with Mortimer, he delivers one of the record’s most pointed lines: “I am the coloniser’s son, the one who won’t obey, the dream that you once had has turned into decay.”

The artist further reflects, “Freedom is our nature and this album is a reflection of that.”

With uplifting tracks like “Be Free” and the unifying anthem “One Family,” Garrett invites listeners to reimagine a world centered around shared humanity. Rich with message and melody, One Family resonates as both a personal offering and a universal movement.
