“Going Blonde” marks a new chapter for Tanner Adell, as she shares her emotional adoption story.

Tanner Adell is showing a new side of herself in “Going Blonde,” an emotional country-pop single that dives into the true story of her adoption and the search for identity that followed. Written alone at a Nashville bar, the track is a raw and honest turning point in Adell’s journey as both an artist and woman.

“Going Blonde” is inspired by the life-changing moment when Adell took a DNA test—gifted by her adoptive parents—and discovered not just her birth family, but the truth: that the story surrounding her adoption wasn’t accurate, and that her birth mother had passed away before they could ever meet.

Through that grief, Adell found a sense of closeness in a photo of her birth mother—blonde, radiant, and reminiscent of Dolly Parton. That one image and a connection to Parton’s song “Dumb Blonde” gave new depth to Adell’s own hair color, which she now wears as a tribute.

“It made me feel like I had a piece of my mom for the first time,” Adell says. “It was a whole new meaning for me.”

Now gearing up for her debut album, Adell released a three-part video on social media detailing the story behind the song. Her fanbase—who love her bold fashion, viral presence, and “Buckle Bunny” energy—are seeing a deeper layer of the star they’ve grown with.

Fresh off her C2C Festival appearance and a performance at the GLAAD Awards, Adell is set to present at Billboard Women In Music. With “Going Blonde,” she invites fans into the 1% of her story she’s finally ready to share.
