Viral Hit “Happy Ever After You” by Thelma & James Now Streaming

MacKenzie Porter and Jake Etheridge, aka Thelma & James, release “Happy Ever After You,” their viral ballad about heartbreak.
Married duo MacKenzie Porter and Jake Etheridge, known as Thelma & James, have officially released their first duet, “Happy Ever After You.” The emotional ballad, written during their first co-writing session in over a decade, explores the pain of heartbreak and lingering memories of love.
The track initially went viral after the couple posted a casual video performance that garnered over five million views within days. The heartfelt song earned praise from fans and industry heavyweights, including John Mayer, Luke Combs, and Natasha Bedingfield, leading to its official release.
The chorus delivers a powerful reflection on loss:
“I got a hole in my heart damn near the size of Texas and I think you left it
I got a picture of you and me circa 2019
Don’t know why I kept it
I got a story I tell myself until my face is in the blue
But I got no happy ever after you.”
“Usually, we keep our music separate,” the duo explained, “but this song came together in such a special way. It’s amazing how something so personal can resonate so widely.”
The single caps an incredible year for Porter, who released her debut album and earned Female Artist of the Year at the CCMA Awards while touring with Keith Urban.
“Happy Ever After You” is now streaming, delivering the poignant sound and heartfelt storytelling that define Thelma & James.
