Will Smith returns with new album “Based on a True Story”, chart-topping single, and 2025 world tour.

Two decades later, Will Smith is stepping back into the spotlight—this time, with a story to tell. The GRAMMY-winning superstar just dropped Based on a True Story, his first full-length album in 20 years, and announced his first-ever headlining tour.

The 14-track album, out now via RITW/SLANG Recordings, brings together collaborators like DJ Jazzy Jeff, Teyana Taylor, and Jac Ross. With hits like “TANTRUM,” “Work of Art,” and the viral “You Can Make It” featuring Fridayy and Sunday Service Choir, Smith proves that age and authenticity only amplify impact.

That same track, debuted at the 2024 BET Awards in a dramatic fire-pit performance, has gone on to top the Billboard Gospel Airplay Chart—his first No.1 since “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It.”

To celebrate the album, Smith will hit the road for the Based on a True Story Summer Tour. Kicking off July 13 in Hamburg, Germany, the tour will travel through Europe, Morocco, and the UK, with stops at some of the continent’s most iconic festivals, including Dreambeach, Mawazine, and BIG ART.

Adding to the full-circle vibes, this week the street outside his Philadelphia alma mater, Overbrook High School, was renamed “Will Smith Way.”

From red carpets to recording booths, Will Smith is still one of the most influential names in entertainment—and now, he’s letting the music do the talking.
