YJL Introduces ‘Soft Star’ Era With Visionary Blend of Strings and Pop Energy
YJL is taking her artistry into uncharted territory with the release of eight original tracks and two music videos that explore an entirely self-created soundscape. A seasoned cellist and composer trained at The Juilliard School and the Conservatoire in Paris, YJL has long been recognized for her classical prowess. Now, she is turning her attention to a boundary-pushing project that she calls “cello + K-pop fusion with emotional storytelling.”
From the opening of “Soft Star” to the cinematic energy of “Sky” and “Jazz On,” each track brings together the warmth of acoustic strings and the kinetic rhythm of pop. Built on Logic Pro, her work signals both artistic independence and production skill.
Having lived in the U.S., France, Belgium, and Korea, YJL’s multicultural roots and fluency in three languages enrich the emotional and stylistic range of her new material. Currently based in Seoul, she draws from modern Korean production aesthetics to bring her vision to life.

Critically celebrated for her classical interpretations, YJL has received glowing reviews from outlets like Das Orchester, which highlighted her “great ease and sensitivity,” and The Strad, which recognized her “technical flawlessness and rich sound.”
YJL’s creative reach also extends into collaboration. Her recent project, “Familiar Classics,” featured artists from various fields, including a Netflix comedian, a Forbes-featured pianist, and fellow Juilliard alumni. Through these initiatives, she continues to build a reputation as a creative connector across genres and platforms.
With this new collection, YJL invites listeners into a world where emotion meets innovation—a sound both fresh and grounded in musical excellence.
