mgk releases “cliché” with a retro-styled video and hints at new album. The track is now streaming.

mgk is embracing emotional nostalgia and high-energy vibes in his new single “cliché,” out now via Interscope / Island EMI. The track premiered across MTV Live, MTVU, MTV Biggest Pop, and the Times Square Paramount billboards, serving as the first full taste of mgk’s next sonic evolution.

Written and produced with long-time collaborators SlimXX, BazeXX, and Nick Long, “cliché” is a breezy anthem layered with vulnerability, optimism, and early-2000s swagger. The Sam Cahill-directed video, featuring choreography by Sean Bankhead (Usher, Tate McRae), takes viewers on a visual journey through carefree rebellion and vintage pop-punk energy.

Fans already had a hint of what was coming — mgk teased the album title earlier this week via a pre-save campaign on his official site.

In recent months, mgk’s reimagined covers of “Iris” (Goo Goo Dolls), “Empty Out Your Pockets” (Juice WRLD), and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” (Green Day) have drawn praise for their raw delivery and sonic risk-taking.

Next, mgk will headline the 30th Anniversary Vans Warped Tour, with dates in Washington, DC, and Orlando, FL, a full-circle moment for an artist whose career has continually evolved.

Having topped the Billboard 200 twice — with Tickets to My Downfall and mainstream sellout — and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album, mgk’s “cliché” is poised to spark his next breakthrough moment.
