Novulent Kicks Off “VOL.3” With Darkly Addictive Single “new low”

Novulent’s “new low” explores obsession, heartbreak, and mental unraveling. The next era has begun.
Novulent is back—and they’re starting their VOL.3 era with a gut-punch. The 20-year-old genre-blurring Texas native has just dropped “new low” via Capitol Records, a track that cuts straight into the raw reality of love gone wrong.
It’s moody. It’s honest. And it’s hitting fans right where it hurts.
“The song talks about being so desperate to be with someone that you’ve hit a new low mentally to stay with them,” Novulent says. “Peeling back their personality more and more, you see how awful they are but, in desperation and wishful thinking, you still stay with them, accepting what they are – a ‘beautiful poison.’”
Inspired by early 2000s coming-of-age cult films like Thirteen and All About Lily Chou-Chou, Novulent’s upcoming album VOL.3 promises a sonic narrative that traces all the shades of love—not just the Instagrammable ones. “Every new song leading up to the album’s release will show, piece-by-piece, the emotional journey that love can take you on. It’s never black and white, it’s always grey,” they explain.
After wrapping their first-ever headline tour—including a buzzy NYC stop at Mercury Lounge—Novulent is cementing their place as a voice for a new wave of alt-emotional storytelling. If “new low” is any indication, VOL.3 is going to be their boldest, most unfiltered project yet.
